Kerry Sensei

Hi! Nice to meet you! I’m Kerona “Kerry Sensei” Slater—an English educator, curriculum designer, and ed-tech enthusiast living in Japan. For more than 12 years, I’ve taught students from beginner to advanced levels, helping them see grammar not as a set of scary rules but as a powerful tool for communication.

I believe learning should be fun, interactive, and confidence-building. That’s why I created Get Grammarous: a playful space where students, teachers, and even busy adults can enjoy mastering English through games, bite-sized lessons, and real-world practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

You’ve got questions. I’ve got answers!

Do I need to know a lot of English before starting?

✨ Nope! You can start from wherever you are. My lessons are beginner-friendly and move at a gentle pace. I use clear, simple English, lots of examples, and fun activities so you never feel lost.

What’s the difference between your YouTube lessons and your paid courses?

🎥 On YouTube, you’ll find free tips and mini-lessons that give you quick wins.
📘 In my courses, you get the full package: step-by-step lessons, worksheets, quizzes, and games that keep you practicing until grammar sticks for good.

Do you offer live classes?

🙋🏽‍♀️ Yes! You can join my group sessions to learn with others (and play grammar games together), or book a one-on-one lesson for personal support. Live classes are fun, interactive, and always encouraging.

I’m a teacher—can I use your materials in my classroom?

👩🏽‍🏫 Please do! Many teachers use my Kahoots, worksheets, and printables to make grammar more engaging. If you’d like to go deeper, I also run workshops showing how to use ed-tech tools like Padlet, Canva, and Flip to level up your lessons.

How can I stay updated on new freebies and resources?

📩 Easy—join my email list! You’ll get free grammar tips, printable worksheets, and sneak peeks of my newest games straight to your inbox each week. Think of it as your little dose of grammar goodness.

Why do you love grammar so much?

Because grammar is like LEGO bricks 🧱—once you know how the pieces fit, you can build anything: a story, a joke, even a song. It’s creativity in disguise!

Will grammar ever actually be fun for me?

😅 I get this one a lot! My answer: YES. With games, Kahoots, and real-life examples, grammar goes from “ugh” to “aha!” faster than you think.
